Ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1 c. chopped onion
  • 3/4 c. chopped green pepper
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 (16 oz.) can chili-type kidney beans, drained
  • 1 (48 oz.) can V-8
  • 1 Tbsp. chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp. dried basil, crushed
  • 5 to 6 dashes bottled hot pepper sauce
  • 1/2 tsp. salt

Instructions

  1. In a large kettle, cook ground beef, chopped onion, chopped green pepper, and minced garlic until the meat is browned.
  2. Drain off excess fat.
  3. Combine the remaining ingredients and bring to a boil.
  4. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for about 20 minutes.
  5. Taste before serving, adding more chili powder or hot sauce if desired.
