Ingredients

  • 1 medium head cabbage
  • 1/2 cup chopped green pepper
  • 1/4 cup chopped onion
  • 1/4 cup margarine
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 cups milk
  • 3/4 cup shredded cheese
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 3 tablespoons bottled chili sauce

Instructions

  1. Cut cabbage into 8 wedges, leaving a portion of the core. Steam wedges in boiling salted water for 10 to 15 minutes or until crisp-tender.
  2. Drain; remove core.
  3. Place wedges in a greased 3-quart dish.
  4. In a medium saucepan, sauté green pepper and onion in margarine until tender.
  5. Stir in flour, salt, and pepper and cook until bubbly.
  6. Gradually add milk; cook and stir until thickened.
  7. Pour the cheese sauce over the cabbage wedges.
  8. Bake uncovered at 375°F for 15 minutes.
