Ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1 cup long grain rice
  • 2 Tbsp. butter
  • 3 cups water
  • 1 cup shredded carrots or corn
  • 2 tsp. beef bouillon
  • 1 tsp. parsley
  • 1/2 tsp. dried onion
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. basil
  • 1/2 cup shredded American cheese

Instructions

  1. Cook the ground beef in a skillet, drain, and set aside.
  2. Brown uncooked rice in butter in a large skillet.
  3. Stir in water, shredded carrots or corn, beef bouillon, parsley, dried onion, salt, and basil.
  4. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 5 minutes.
  5. Stir in the browned beef.
  6. Transfer the mixture to a 1 1/2-quart casserole dish.
  7. Cover and bake at 325°F for 45 minutes.
  8. Sprinkle shredded American cheese on top and bake uncovered for an additional 5 minutes.
