Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine
  • 1 cup brown sugar packed
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup quick rolled oats
  • 2/3 cup sweetened condensed milk
  • 4 ounces cream cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla

Instructions

  1. Beat together the butter, sugar, egg, and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla in a bowl.
  2. Add flour, baking soda, salt, and oats; mix well.
  3. Pack the mixture into a greased 9 x 9-inch pan.
  4. Set aside.
  5. Beat milk, cream cheese, and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla together until smooth.
  6. Reserve 3 tablespoons of the milk mixture for icing.
  7. Spread the remaining milk and cream cheese mixture over the bottom layer.
  8. Sprinkle nuts over the top.
  9. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 25 minutes or until set.
  10. Frost while hot with the reserved icing.
