Chewy Granola Bars
Chewy granola bars combine oats, coconut, nuts, and chocolate for a delicious, energy-boosting snack perfect for breakfast, lunchboxes, or on-the-go treats enjoyed by all ages.
Ingredients
- 1 c. firmly packed brown sugar ⓘ
- 2/3 c. peanut butter
- 1/2 c. light corn syrup ⓘ
- 1/2 c. margarine or butter ⓘ
- 2 tsp. vanilla ⓘ
- 3 c. quick cooking rolled oats ⓘ
- 1/2 c. coconut
- 1/2 c. sunflower nuts ⓘ
- 1/2 c. raisins ⓘ
- 1/3 c. wheat germ ⓘ
- 2 Tbsp. sesame seed ⓘ
- 6 oz. pkg. semi-sweet chocolate or carob chips ⓘ
Instructions
- Heat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease a 13 x 9-inch pan.
- In a large bowl, combine brown sugar, peanut butter, corn syrup, margarine, and vanilla; blend well.
- Stir in quick cooking rolled oats, coconut, sunflower nuts, raisins, wheat germ, sesame seed, and chocolate chips if desired.
- Press mixture evenly into the prepared pan.
- Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 15 to 20 minutes or until light golden brown.
- Cool completely in the pan.
- Cut into bars and serve.
