Chicken A La Budapest features tender chicken breasts in a creamy sour cream sauce with garlic, onions, and paprika, perfect for comforting dinners and flavorful gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 8 boneless chicken breasts
  • 1/4 lb butter or margarine
  • salt to taste
  • pepper to taste
  • 4 to 5 green onions, chopped
  • 3 to 4 cloves garlic, sliced
  • 1/2 pint sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons bread crumbs
  • 1 teaspoon Hungarian paprika
  • 1/2 cup dry white wine

Instructions

  1. Wash and pat dry each chicken breast.
  2. Melt butter in a long baking dish.
  3. Place chicken breasts in the dish, flesh side down.
  4. Sprinkle with salt and pepper.
  5. Arrange side by side in the dish.
  6. Divide chopped green onions and sliced garlic evenly and place between or under the chicken pieces.
  7. Combine sour cream with Worcestershire sauce and pour over the chicken.
  8. Sprinkle with bread crumbs and Hungarian paprika.
  9. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 1 1/2 hours.
  10. After 30 minutes of baking, add half of the white wine and continue baking for 20 minutes.
  11. Add the remaining white wine and bake until done.
  12. Garnish with chopped parsley before serving.
