  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/8 tsp. pepper
  • 2 Tbsp. milk
  • 1 Tbsp. chopped onion
  • 1 Tbsp. chopped celery
  • 1 pkg. crescent rolls (8)
  • seasoned bread crumbs

  2. Add cooked cubed chicken, salt, pepper, milk, chopped onion, and chopped celery to the mixture. Mix well by hand.
  3. Divide the 8 crescent rolls into 4 rectangles (each made from 2 triangles).
  4. Place 1/2 cup of the chicken mixture in the center of each rectangle.
  5. Fold the four corners of each rectangle to meet in the center, enclosing the filling.
  6. Brush the tops of each with melted margarine and sprinkle with seasoned bread crumbs.
  7. Bake on a cookie sheet at 350°F for 20 to 25 minutes until golden brown.

Tips & Substitutions

For a creamier filling, consider using a mix of cream cheese and sour cream. You can substitute cooked turkey for the chicken, or use rotisserie chicken to save time. If you prefer a crunchier topping, try mixing the seasoned bread crumbs with a bit of grated Parmesan cheese. Ensure the crescent rolls are not overbaked to maintain their flakiness.

Serving Suggestions

These Chicken Crescents make a delightful main dish and pair well with a fresh green salad or steamed vegetables. For a hearty meal, serve alongside Country Potato Soup. They also work wonderfully for brunch or as a party appetizer. Consider offering a dipping sauce, such as ranch or honey mustard, for added flavor.

Storage & Reheating

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To reheat, place them in a preheated oven at 350°F for about 10-15 minutes, or until heated through, to preserve the texture. Avoid microwaving, as it can make the crescent rolls soggy.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I make this recipe ahead of time?

Yes, you can prepare the chicken filling a day in advance and store it in the fridge. Assemble the crescents just before baking for the best results. If you want to freeze them, assemble and freeze before baking, then bake from frozen, adding a few extra minutes to the cooking time.

What can I use instead of margarine?

You can substitute the melted margarine with butter or olive oil. Both options will provide a rich flavor to the dish. If you're looking for a dairy-free option, use a plant-based butter substitute that melts well.

How can I make this dish spicier?

To add some heat to your Chicken Crescents, mix in diced jalapeños or a dash of hot sauce into the chicken filling. Alternatively, you can sprinkle some red pepper flakes over the top before baking for an extra kick. Consider pairing it with a spicy dipping sauce for a flavorful contrast.
