Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup minced onion
  • 1 pound ground round
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 8 ounces tomato sauce
  • 4 ounces tomato sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 3 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 cup diced celery

Instructions

  1. Saute ground beef and minced onion until the meat is browned and the onions are cooked.
  2. Add tomato sauce, chili powder, brown sugar, dry mustard, lemon juice, and diced celery to the meat mixture.
  3. Simmer the mixture, stirring frequently, for 45 minutes to 1 hour.
  4. If necessary, add cornstarch mixed with water to thicken the sauce.
  5. Serve the chili-beef mixture on grilled or toasted frankfurter rolls or hamburger buns.
