Ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1 c. chopped onion
  • 3/4 c. chopped green pepper
  • 1 lb. can (2 c.) whole tomatoes, crushed by hand
  • 1 lb. (2 c.) dark red kidney beans, drained
  • 1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 or 2 tsp. chili powder to taste
  • 1 bay leaf

Instructions

  1. Brown and drain the ground beef.
  2. Add chopped onion and green pepper to the beef and sauté until tender.
  3. Add crushed tomatoes, kidney beans, tomato sauce, salt, chili powder, and bay leaf.
  4. Cover and simmer for 1 hour.
