Ingredients

  • 3 slices bread
  • 3/4 cup hot milk
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/8 cup chopped onion
  • 3 tablespoons chopped parsley
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons shortening
  • 2 cups tomato juice
  • 1 teaspoon Kitchen Bouquet
  • 1 cup hot water
  • 1 can sliced carrots
  • 1 can peas

Instructions

  1. Soften the bread slices in hot milk and add the beaten egg.
  2. Mix well with the ground beef, then add chopped onion, parsley, salt, and pepper.
  3. Form the mixture into balls and roll them in flour.
  4. Brown the meatballs in hot shortening until browned on all sides.
  5. Add Kitchen Bouquet and tomato juice; simmer for 10 minutes.
  6. Add hot water, sliced carrots, and peas.
  7. Cover and simmer until the dish is hot through and flavors meld.
