Ingredients

  • 4 oz. German sweet chocolate
  • 4 oz. German sweet chocolate
  • 1 1/3 cups shredded coconut
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/3 cup butter or margarine
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 3 tbsp. sour cream
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 egg

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Cut 2 ounces of the chocolate into chunks.
  3. Mix flour, baking powder, salt, and baking soda in a bowl and set aside.
  4. Melt the margarine in a saucepan over low heat.
  5. Add sugar to the melted margarine and blend well.
  6. Stir in the egg and vanilla until smooth.
  7. Gradually stir in the flour mixture until combined.
  8. Stir in the chocolate chunks and 2/3 cup of coconut.
  9. Spread the batter evenly in a greased 9-inch square pan.
  10. Bake for 35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean.
  11. Cool the brownies in the pan.
  12. Meanwhile, melt the remaining chocolate in a saucepan over low heat, stirring constantly.
  13. Remove from heat and cool slightly, then stir in sour cream.
  14. Spread the chocolate sour cream mixture over the cooled brownies.
  15. Sprinkle with the remaining coconut.
  16. Chill until firm, about 10 minutes.
  17. Cut into squares and serve.
