Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon orange extract
  • 3 eggs
  • 6 oz. semi-sweet chocolate, melted
  • 2 cups mixed fruit
  • 1/2 cup sifted flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 cup nuts

Instructions

  1. Cream butter, brown sugar, and orange extract until smooth.
  2. Add eggs one at a time, blending well after each addition.
  3. Mix in the cooled melted semi-sweet chocolate.
  4. Sift together flour, baking powder, soda, and salt.
  5. Alternately add the dry ingredients and water to the creamed mixture, starting and ending with dry ingredients.
  6. Fold in mixed fruit and nuts.
  7. Pour batter into a greased and floured 9-inch tube pan.
  8. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
