Chocolate Velvet is a rich, creamy layered dessert combining chocolate pudding, whipped topping, and a crunchy pecan crust, perfect for special occasions or decadent family gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 sticks margarine
  • 1/2 cup pecans
  • 1 to 1 1/2 cups Cool Whip
  • 2 small boxes chocolate pudding
  • 8 ounces cream cheese
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • Milk (for pudding, amount as needed)

Instructions

  1. Mix margarine, flour, and pecans.
  2. Spread the mixture in a 2-quart Pyrex dish.
  3. Bake at 350°F for 15 minutes.
  4. Allow to cool.
  5. Beat together cream cheese (room temperature), Cool Whip, and powdered sugar until smooth.
  6. Spread this mixture on top of the cooled crust.
  7. Mix chocolate pudding with milk and beat for about 2 minutes.
  8. Spread the pudding over the cream cheese layer.
  9. Top with remaining Cool Whip.
  10. Shave part of a small Hershey bar on top of the final layer.
