Ingredients

  • 3 1/2 cups cornbread crumbs
  • 3 1/2 cups white bread crumbs
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 3 tablespoons minced onion
  • 1 cup chopped celery
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon savory seasoning
  • 2 to 3 teaspoons sage
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 cups hot chicken broth

Instructions

  1. Crumble bread into a large pan or bowl.
  2. Melt butter and sauté onion and celery until tender.
  3. Add the sautéed vegetables and melted butter to the bread crumbs along with the other ingredients and mix well.
  4. If the dressing seems too dry, add a little more hot chicken broth and mix again.
  5. Transfer to a shallow pan and bake at 400°F for 15 to 20 minutes until browned.
