Ingredients

  • 2/3 cup margarine
  • 1 pound light brown sugar
  • 2 2/3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 cup broken pecans
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 12 ounces chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Melt the margarine and let it cool.
  2. Add the brown sugar and vanilla extract, then beat in the eggs one at a time.
  3. Sift together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the sugar mixture, stirring well.
  5. Fold in the chocolate chips and broken pecans, mixing until evenly combined.
  6. Pour the batter into a greased and floured 13 x 9-inch baking pan.
  7. Bake at 350°F for about 25 minutes, or until underbaked.
  8. Allow to cool, then cut into squares.
