Ingredients

  • 3 1/3 cups sifted flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups (3 sticks) butter or margarine, softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3/4 cup firmly packed dark brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup hot water
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 6 oz. semi-sweet chocolate morsels
  • 1 1/2 cups corn flakes

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F.
  2. Grease 2 cookie sheets.
  3. Sift flour, baking powder, and salt onto wax paper.
  4. Beat butter, sugar, and brown sugar in a large bowl with electric mixer until light and fluffy.
  5. Beat in hot water, egg, and vanilla.
  6. Gradually stir in the flour mixture.
  7. Gently stir in chocolate morsels and corn flakes.
  8. Drop mixture by heaping teaspoonfuls 1 inch apart onto prepared cookie sheets.
  9. Bake in the oven for 5 minutes or until cookies are set and golden brown.
  10. Cool on cookie sheets for several minutes.
  11. Transfer to a wire rack and cool completely.
  12. Store in a tightly covered container.
