Ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1/4 c. chopped onion
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 2 (8 oz.) cans tomato sauce
  • 2 Tbsp. chili powder
  • 1 c. (4 oz.) shredded Cheddar cheese
  • 1 (16 oz.) can pinto beans
  • 1 (6 oz.) pkg. corn bread mix

Instructions

  1. Cook ground beef, chopped onion, and crushed garlic in a skillet until meat is browned, stirring to crumble.
  2. Drain off pan drippings.
  3. Stir in tomato sauce and chili powder.
  4. Pour the mixture into a lightly greased baking dish.
  5. Top with shredded Cheddar cheese.
  6. Spoon pinto beans over the cheese.
  7. Prepare the cornbread according to package instructions.
  8. Pour the prepared cornbread batter over the beans.
  9. Bake at 400°F for 25 minutes or until the cornbread is golden brown.
