Czech Beef Dinner

Ingredients

  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 1 c. flour (for dredging)
  • 2 lb. stewing beef, cubed
  • 2 Tbsp. oil
  • 2 medium onions, chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp. dill weed
  • 1 tsp. caraway seed
  • 1 tsp. paprika
  • 1/2 c. water
  • 1 c. sour cream
  • 1 (27-oz.) can sauerkraut

Instructions

  1. Mix flour, salt and pepper.
  2. Dredge beef in mixture and brown in hot oil.
  3. Pour off drippings and add onion, garlic, dill weed, caraway seed, paprika and water.
  4. Cover loosely and cook slowly for 2 hours until meat is tender.
  5. Stir in sour cream and heat through, but do not boil.
  6. Heat sauerkraut in a saucepan, drain and place on platter.
  7. Serve meat mixture over sauerkraut. Sprinkle with paprika.
