Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup white sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 3/4 cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1 cup brown sugar

Instructions

  1. Cream butter and sugars; add egg yolks and vanilla.
  2. Add sifted dry ingredients to the creamed mixture.
  3. Spread the batter in a greased 8 x 8-inch pan and cover with chocolate chips.
  4. Beat egg whites until stiff peaks form.
  5. Add 1 cup brown sugar and chopped dates to the egg whites and fold gently.
  6. Pour the egg white mixture over the chocolate chips in the pan.
  7. Bake in a 350°F oven for 30 to 35 minutes.
