Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb butter
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 3 cups plain flour
  • 3/4 teaspoon soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vinegar
  • 1 cup milk

Instructions

  1. Cream butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
  2. Combine dry ingredients: flour, soda, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Alternately add dry ingredients with milk (mixed with vinegar) and beaten eggs to the creamed mixture, mixing well.
  4. Add 1 teaspoon vanilla extract and 1 teaspoon almond flavoring to the batter.
  5. Fold in chopped and floured nuts.
  6. Pour the batter into a well-greased tube pan.
  7. Bake in a preheated oven for 1 hour or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
