Fairy Pie is a delightful layered dessert featuring a buttery, nutty filling with a light, airy meringue top, perfect for special occasions or sweet gatherings.

- Cream the unsalted butter and 1/2 cup of sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add well beaten egg yolks to the creamed mixture and mix well.
- Stir in the milk and 1/2 cup of flour, then add the baking powder mixed with 2 tablespoons of flour.
- Divide the batter evenly into two greased 9-inch cake pans and smooth the tops.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- While the cakes are baking, beat the egg whites until soft peaks form.
- Gradually add 3/4 cup of sugar and continue beating until stiff peaks form.
- Fold in vanilla extract and chopped pecans into the meringue.
- Once cakes are cooled, spread the pecan meringue over the top of each cake layer or use as a topping.
