Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla flavoring
  • 2 cups plain flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon ginger
  • 1/2 cup sour milk
  • 1 1/4 cups chopped ready-to-eat prunes
  • 1 cup chopped nuts

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine shortening, sugar, eggs, and vanilla and beat well.
  2. Sift together the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, and ginger.
  3. Add the sifted ingredients alternately with sour milk to the creamed mixture and beat well.
  4. Fold in the chopped prunes and nuts and blend well.
