Ingredients

  • 1/2 envelope dry onion mix
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup catsup
  • 1/4 cup cider vinegar
  • 1/2 cup salad oil
  • 1 tablespoon prepared mustard
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • dash hot pepper sauce
  • 1 1/2 pounds chuck beef
  • instant unseasoned meat tenderizer
  • 1 green pepper
  • 1 red pepper

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, combine the dry onion mix, sugar, catsup, cider vinegar, salad oil, prepared mustard, salt, and hot pepper sauce with 1/2 cup water; bring to boiling.
  2. Reduce heat and simmer for 20 minutes.
  3. Cool the marinade.
  4. Add the beef cubes to the marinade; toss and coat well.
  5. Refrigerate the coated meat overnight.
  6. Drain the meat, reserving the marinade.
  7. Use unseasoned meat tenderizer on the meat according to the directions.
  8. Thread the meat and peppers alternately on skewers.
  9. Broil over coals for 20 to 25 minutes, turning once and brushing with the marinade.
  10. Heat the remaining marinade and serve as a sauce.
