Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup cider vinegar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons spicy brown mustard
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 lemon slices
  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
  • 3 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 2 teaspoons hot red pepper sauce

Instructions

  1. Combine cider vinegar, water, brown sugar, spicy brown mustard, salt, black pepper, paprika, sliced onion, lemon slices, butter, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, crushed garlic, and hot red pepper sauce in a small saucepan.
  2. Bring to a boil over moderately high heat.
  3. Reduce heat to low.
  4. Simmer, uncovered, stirring occasionally, for 20 minutes.
  5. Remove from heat and discard lemon slices.
  6. Stir in remaining ingredients.
  7. Cool to room temperature before using or storing.
