Ingredients

  • 2 lb. chicken parts
  • 4 medium carrots
  • 1 can cream of chicken soup
  • 1/2 can milk
  • 1/4 tsp. poultry seasoning
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 2 Tbsp. shortening
  • 6 small onions
  • 1 package frozen lima beans
  • small potatoes
  • 1 small yellow turnip

Instructions

  1. Brown the chicken parts in a skillet and place them in a 2-quart casserole dish.
  2. In a bowl, stir together the cream of chicken soup, milk, poultry seasoning, and salt.
  3. Add the chopped carrots, small onions, frozen lima beans, and small potatoes (if using) to the soup mixture.
  4. Pour the mixture over the chicken in the casserole dish.
  5. Cover and refrigerate until 1 hour before serving, or proceed immediately.
  6. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 1 hour covered.
  7. Uncover and bake for an additional 15 minutes to brown.
