Ingredients

  • 3 eggs
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 cake yeast
  • 4 1/2 cups flour
  • 1/2 cup shortening

Instructions

  1. Mix eggs, yeast mixture, and melted shortening with salt into a well-beaten eggs mixture.
  2. Combine all dry ingredients in a separate bowl.
  3. Mix until a smooth, elastic dough develops.
  4. Place the dough in an oiled pan and cover with a cloth.
  5. Set in a warm place to rise for about 2 hours.
  6. Cut the risen dough in half and roll out on a floured board to 1-inch thickness.
  7. Cut the rolled dough into pie shapes.
  8. Roll up each pie shape from the large end to the point and curve into a crescent shape.
  9. Cover with a dry cloth and set aside in a warm place until doubled in size.
  10. Bake at 400°F (200°C) for 5 to 7 minutes until lightly browned.
