Ingredients

  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup butter or oleo
  • 1 cup salad oil
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon milk
  • 3 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup quick oats
  • 1 cup finely shredded coconut
  • 1 cup chopped nuts

Instructions

  1. Cream the sugars, butter, and salad oil together in a large bowl.
  2. Add the beaten egg and 1 tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon of milk; mix well.
  3. Sift together the flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the creamed mixture, mixing until combined.
  5. Fold in vanilla, quick oats, coconut, and chopped nuts.
  6. Drop spoonfuls or roll into small balls and place on a greased cookie sheet.
  7. Bake in a preheated 350°F oven for 10 to 12 minutes or until golden brown.
