Fried Wontons
Crispy fried wontons filled with savory ground meat, shrimp, and aromatic seasonings, perfect as an appetizer or snack for gatherings and casual meals.
Ingredients
- 1 beaten egg ⓘ
- 1 cup cabbage, finely chopped ⓘ
- 1/4 cup green onion, finely chopped ⓘ
- 3 tablespoons soy sauce ⓘ
- 1 tablespoon ginger root, grated ⓘ
- 1/2 teaspoon sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt ⓘ
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil ⓘ
- 2 cloves garlic, minced ⓘ
- 1/2 pound ground beef or pork ⓘ
- 4 ounces shrimp, chopped ⓘ
- 40 wonton skins ⓘ
- cooking oil for deep fat frying ⓘ
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the beaten egg, finely chopped cabbage, green onion, soy sauce, grated ginger, sugar, salt, sesame oil, minced garlic, and a dash of pepper.
- Add the ground beef or pork and chopped shrimp to the mixture and mix well until thoroughly combined.
- Place a small spoonful of the filling in the center of each wonton skin.
- Moisten the edges of the wonton skin with water and fold to form a sealed packet, pressing out any air.
- Heat cooking oil for deep frying in a wok or deep pan over medium-high heat.
- Fry the wontons in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes per batch.
- Drain on paper towels and serve hot with dipping sauce if desired.
