Ingredients

  • 1 medium head cabbage
  • 3/4 cup cooked rice
  • 2 cans tomato soup
  • 1 onion
  • few cloves garlic
  • salt
  • pepper
  • garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 1/2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 pound ground pork

Instructions

  1. Core the cabbage deeply and pour 1 cup of water into the core cavity.
  2. Cover with a plastic bag and microwave on High for 5 minutes.
  3. Open plastic bag carefully and check the cabbage leaves for softness.
  4. Remove leaves one at a time.
  5. If leaves don't remove easily, add more water, cover, and microwave again until soft.
  6. In a bowl, combine cooked rice, chopped onion, minced garlic, salt, pepper, garlic powder, ground beef, and ground pork.
  7. Mix well and form into small meatballs or rolls.
  8. Wrap each meat mixture with a softened cabbage leaf, folding in the sides.
  9. Place the stuffed cabbage rolls in a large pot and pour two cans of tomato soup over them.
  10. Add spareribs around the rolls.
  11. Bring to a simmer, cover, and cook on low heat for about 1 hour, until meat is cooked through and flavors meld.
