Ingredients

  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 2 sticks oleo
  • 1 cup Wesson oil
  • 1 teaspoon soda
  • 1 tablespoon sour milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 3 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup oatmeal
  • 1/2 cup cornflake crumbs
  • 1/2 cup Grape-Nuts

Instructions

  1. Mix together the brown sugar, white sugar, egg, oleo, and Wesson oil.
  2. In a separate small bowl, combine the soda with 1 tablespoon of sour milk.
  3. Add the soda mixture, vanilla, flour, cream of tartar, and salt to the creamed mixture and mix well.
  4. Stir in the oatmeal, cornflake crumbs, Grape-Nuts, and nuts until evenly combined.
  5. Refrigerate the dough for some time to chill.
  6. Make into small balls, flatten with a fork, and place on a baking sheet.
  7. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 8 to 10 minutes until golden brown.
