Green Chilie Pie
A flavorful green chili and cheese pie featuring a blend of Monterey Jack, Cheddar, green chilies, and aromatic seasonings, perfect for a savory appetizer or main course.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups shredded Monterey Jack cheese ⓘ
- 1 cup shredded sharp Cheddar cheese
- 4 oz. can chopped green chilies ⓘ
- 3 eggs, beaten ⓘ
- 1/2 to 3/4 cup chopped onions ⓘ
- 1 cup half and half ⓘ
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper ⓘ
- 1 tablespoon Spanish seasonings
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder ⓘ
- 1 teaspoon onion powder ⓘ
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 325°F (163°C).
- Bake the pie shell for 5 minutes.
- Sprinkle 1/2 cup of Monterey Jack cheese, 1/2 cup of sharp Cheddar cheese, chopped onions, and chopped green chilies into the shell.
- Beat the eggs, half and half, Spanish seasonings, garlic powder, and onion powder together.
- Pour the egg mixture into the pie shell over the layered ingredients.
- Sprinkle the remaining sharp Cheddar cheese on top of the pie.
- Place a cookie sheet under the pie to catch any drips.
- Bake at 325°F (163°C) for 40 minutes or until a knife inserted in the center comes out dry.
- Serve hot or cold, ideally with a salad.
