A savory beef Wellington variation with ground beef, mushrooms, cheese, and flaky crescent roll pastry, perfect for a hearty, crowd-pleasing dinner or special occasion.

Ingredients

  • 2 lb. ground beef
  • 1 (1 1/2 oz.) envelope dry onion soup mix
  • 1 (2 oz.) can sliced mushrooms, drained
  • 1/4 cup minced parsley
  • 1 (4 oz.) pkg. shredded Cheddar cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 1 pkg. refrigerated crescent rolls
  • 1 egg, beaten

Instructions

  1. Brown ground beef with dry onion soup mix in a skillet.
  2. Drain excess fat from the beef mixture.
  3. Stir in drained sliced mushrooms, minced parsley, shredded Cheddar cheese, and a slightly beaten egg; set aside.
  4. On a floured surface, roll half of the crescent roll dough into a 12 x 18-inch rectangle.
  5. Place the dough in a shallow baking pan.
  6. Spread the meat mixture on the dough and shape into a loaf.
  7. Roll the remaining dough and place on top of the meat.
  8. Seal the edges securely and trim any excess dough.
  9. Cut strips from the remaining dough and arrange in a crisscross pattern on top of the loaf or use a cookie cutter to create an attractive design.
  10. Beat the second egg and brush it over the top of the loaf.
  11. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 30 minutes or until golden brown.
