Ingredients

  • 1 medium head cabbage, coarsely chopped (5 cups)
  • 6 large carrots, 1 inch cuts
  • 2 large potatoes, chopped
  • 2 cups diced cooked ham
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 3 cups water
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon seasoning salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 (16 oz) can garbanzo beans

Instructions

  1. In a large saucepan or Dutch oven, combine cabbage, carrots, potatoes, ham, onion, water, salt, seasoning salt, and pepper.
  2. Cover and simmer for about 1 hour or until vegetables are tender.
  3. Add the undrained garbanzo beans and cook covered for an additional 10 to 15 minutes.
  4. Add more water if necessary during cooking.
