Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 3/4 cup canned pumpkin
  • 3/4 cup chocolate chips
  • 3/4 cup chopped walnuts

Instructions

  1. Grease a 9 x 5-inch loaf pan.
  2. Combine the flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and ground cloves in a bowl.
  3. Cream together the butter and sugar until well combined.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  5. At low speed, alternately add the dry ingredients and pumpkin, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients.
  6. Stir in the chocolate chips and chopped walnuts.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan.
  8. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 65 to 70 minutes, until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  9. Let stand for at least 6 hours before slicing.
