Ingredients

  • 1 sweet pepper
  • 1 small cabbage head
  • 1/2 head lettuce
  • 1 large onion
  • 4 or 5 sweet pickles
  • 2 tomatoes
  • 1 stalk celery (optional)
  • 1/2 to 1 tsp. hot pepper (cayenne)
  • 1 Tbsp. hot sauce
  • 1 bottle ketchup
  • 1 c. vinegar
  • 1 c. sugar
  • salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat vinegar and sugar until the sugar dissolves.
  2. Let the vinegar mixture cool.
  3. Chop the sweet pepper, cabbage, lettuce, onion, pickles, tomatoes, and celery if using.
  4. Add the hot pepper, hot sauce, and ketchup to the mixture.
  5. Pour the cooled vinegar mixture over the chopped vegetables and mix well.
