Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 2/3 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup maraschino cherry juice
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 2 ounces unsweetened chocolate, melted
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans
  • 1/4 cup chopped maraschino cherries
  • 1/2 teaspoon marshmallow cream

Instructions

  1. Sift the flour, soda, and salt together.
  2. Cream the butter, brown sugar, and egg together.
  3. Gradually stir in half of the dry ingredients into the creamed mixture.
  4. Add cherry juice and milk to the mixture.
  5. Add the remaining dry ingredients, then blend in melted unsweetened chocolate, chopped pecans, and chopped maraschino cherries.
  6. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto an ungreased cookie sheet.
  7. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes.
  8. While still warm, spoon marshmallow cream onto each cookie and let cool.
  9. Frost with icing if desired.
