Judi'S Beef Stroganoff
Creamy beef stroganoff with tender cubes of beef, mushrooms, and a rich sour cream sauce, perfect for comforting dinners and impressing guests alike.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 lb. stewing beef, cubed ⓘ
- 2 Tbsp. cooking oil ⓘ
- 3 small onions ⓘ
- 2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce ⓘ
- 3 Tbsp. ketchup ⓘ
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 tsp. garlic powder ⓘ
- 1 large bay leaf ⓘ
- 1/2 tsp. salt ⓘ
- 1/4 tsp. allspice ⓘ
- 4 Tbsp. butter ⓘ
- 5 oz. cooking wine (white) ⓘ
- 3 oz. can sliced mushrooms ⓘ
- 10 oz. can mushroom soup ⓘ
- 1 cup sour cream ⓘ
Instructions
- Heat cooking oil in a large pot or frying pan and brown the cubed stewing beef.
- Add Worcestershire sauce, ketchup mixed with water, garlic powder, bay leaf, salt, allspice, and white cooking wine to the browned beef.
- Optionally, add the liquid from the can of sliced mushrooms.
- Cover and simmer the mixture for 1 1/2 hours, stirring occasionally.
- Add the can of mushroom soup (undiluted) and sliced mushrooms to the pot.
- Heat through until hot.
- Add the remaining 1/4 stick of butter and heat through.
- Stir in the sour cream until well combined.
