Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine
  • 1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/8 teaspoon red pepper
  • dash paprika
  • 25 pitted dates

Instructions

  1. Mix shredded Cheddar cheese and softened butter; beat until smooth.
  2. Combine all-purpose flour, red pepper, and paprika; mix well.
  3. Add the flour mixture to the cheese and butter mixture; mix thoroughly.
  4. Cut the pitted dates crosswise into halves.
  5. Wrap each date half with the cheese dough.
  6. Place the wrapped dates on an ungreased cookie sheet.
  7. Bake at 400°F for 15 to 18 minutes.
  8. Allow to cool before serving.
