Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 c. flour
  • 1 c. brown sugar
  • 1/4 c. butter
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1/2 c. sour milk *
  • 1 1/4 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/2 tsp. soda
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 c. nuts, chopped

Instructions

  1. Mix 1 cup flour, brown sugar and butter.
  2. Reserve 1/2 cup of mixture.
  3. Add egg, sour milk and vanilla to flour mixture.
  4. Sift remaining flour, soda and baking powder together.
  5. Add to butter and milk mixture.
  6. Blend.
  7. Pour into buttered 8 x 8 x 2-inch pan. Add cinnamon and nuts to reserved mixture.
  8. Sprinkle over batter. Bake in a 375° oven for 25 minutes.
