Ingredients

  • 2 lb. ground beef
  • 1 Tbsp. thyme
  • 1 Tbsp. garlic powder
  • 1 Tbsp. oregano
  • 1 Tbsp. rosemary
  • 1 Tbsp. sweet basil
  • 1 can mushrooms
  • 1 green pepper, chopped
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 lb. Mozzarella cheese
  • 1 pkg. lasagne noodles (8 oz.)
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • dash of Tabasco sauce
  • 3 Tbsp. Worcestershire
  • 2 Tbsp. wine vinegar
  • 1 Tbsp. sugar
  • 2 large (15 oz.) cans tomato sauce
  • 1 can tomato paste
  • Provolone cheese, sliced round (1 pkg. per layer)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large skillet, cook ground beef over medium heat until browned.
  3. Add chopped onion and green pepper; cook until softened.
  4. Stir in garlic powder, thyme, oregano, rosemary, sweet basil, salt, and pepper.
  5. Add tomato sauce, tomato paste, Worcestershire, wine vinegar, sugar, mushrooms, and a dash of Tabasco sauce.
  6. Simmer the sauce for about 20 minutes to blend flavors.
  7. Cook lasagne noodles according to package instructions; drain.
  8. In a baking dish, spread a layer of meat sauce, then layer lasagne noodles, provolone slices, and mozzarella cheese.
  9. Repeat layers until all ingredients are used, ending with a top layer of cheese.
  10. Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  11. Remove foil and bake an additional 15 minutes until bubbly and golden.
  12. Let rest for 10 minutes before serving.
