Ingredients

  • 1 large cabbage
  • 1 large green bell pepper
  • 1 large onion
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup white vinegar
  • 3/4 cup oil
  • 1 tablespoon dry mustard
  • 1 tablespoon celery seed
  • 1 tablespoon salt

Instructions

  1. Shred the cabbage.
  2. Layer cabbage, onion, and bell pepper in a large bowl.
  3. Pour 1 cup of sugar over the layered vegetables; do not stir.
  4. Bring vinegar, oil, dry mustard, celery seed, and salt to a boil.
  5. Pour the hot mixture over the cabbage layers.
  6. Refrigerate for 24 hours.
  7. Stir before serving.
