Tips & Substitutions

For a gluten-free option, substitute the flour with cornstarch or a gluten-free flour blend. If you're out of thyme, fresh rosemary or oregano can work well too. Experiment with adding garlic or lemon zest for extra flavor. For a richer sauce, consider adding a splash of white wine to the skillet after sautéing the onions.

Serving Suggestions

This Lemon Chicken pairs beautifully with rice, making it a comforting meal. Consider serving alongside steamed broccoli or a fresh green salad for a balanced dish. For a twist, try it with Pan Potatoes And Chicken Teriyaki for a delightful fusion of flavors.

Storage & Reheating

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To reheat, place the chicken and sauce in a skillet over low heat until warmed through, adding a splash of chicken broth if needed to prevent drying out. You can also microwave in short intervals, covered, until hot.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use bone-in chicken instead of breast fillets?

Yes, bone-in chicken can be used, but the cooking time will need to be adjusted. Ensure the internal temperature reaches 165°F. Cooking may take longer, so simmer gently until tender.

What can I substitute for chicken broth?

If you don't have chicken broth, vegetable broth or water can be used. For added flavor, you can enhance water with a bit of soy sauce or bouillon cubes.

Is it possible to make this dish ahead of time?

Absolutely! You can prepare the chicken and sauce ahead of time, refrigerate, and reheat before serving. Just be cautious not to overcook the chicken when reheating to keep it tender.
