Ingredients

  • 3 cups applesauce
  • 1 cup shortening
  • 1 cup dates
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 2 teaspoons nutmeg
  • 4 cups flour
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup raisins
  • 1 teaspoon cloves
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons soda
  • 1 cup nuts

Instructions

  1. Mix sugar and shortening together until well combined.
  2. Combine all dry ingredients including flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, salt, and soda.
  3. Heat the applesauce until warm.
  4. Add the soda to the heated applesauce.

  7. Pour the batter into a prepared baking pan (Bundt or loaf).
