Ingredients

  • 1 lb. egg noodles
  • 3 lb. ground beef
  • 3 large onions
  • 1 bunch celery
  • 2 green peppers
  • 4 cans tomato soup
  • 3/4 lb. Cheddar cheese
  • 1 large can mushrooms
  • salt
  • pepper

Instructions

  1. Brown the ground beef in a skillet.
  2. Add chopped celery, onions, green peppers, and garlic to the browned meat.
  3. Add 2 tablespoons of water, cover, and steam until vegetables are tender.
  4. Cook the egg noodles in boiling water and drain.
  5. Mix the cooked noodles with the meat and vegetable mixture, tomato soup, mushrooms, salt, and pepper.
  6. Spread the mixture into a baking dish 2 inches deep.
  7. Sprinkle Cheddar cheese on top.
  8. Refrigerate for at least 12 hours before baking.
  9. To serve, place the casserole in a cold oven at 250°F and bake for 1 to 1 1/2 hours.
