Ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground beef or ground turkey
  • 1 c. bread crumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 c. ketchup
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 or 2 cloves garlic, chopped
  • 2 Tbsp. parsley
  • 2 Tbsp. oregano
  • 1 tsp. thyme
  • 1 tsp. sweet basil
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. pepper
  • tomato sauce to taste
  • grated cheese to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Mix ground beef or turkey, bread crumbs, egg, ketchup, chopped onion, chopped garlic, parsley, oregano, thyme, basil, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
  3. Shape the mixture into a loaf and place it in a loaf pan.
  4. Bake for 45 minutes.
  5. Remove from oven and spread tomato sauce over the top.
  6. Sprinkle grated cheese on top.
  7. Bake for an additional 10 to 15 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.
