Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb butter
  • 1/2 lb powdered sugar
  • 6 egg yolks
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1/3 cup strong coffee
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla
  • 3/4 lb ladyfingers

Instructions

  1. Mix cold strong coffee with butter until you get a good mocha color.
  2. Work powdered sugar, egg yolks, and chopped walnuts into the butter and coffee mixture.
  3. Line the sides and bottom of a deep Pyrex loaf pan with ladyfingers.
  4. Layer the ingredients in the following order: egg mixture, ladyfingers, egg mixture, and ladyfingers.
  5. Ensure the top layer is ladyfingers.
  6. Fill the loaf pan to the top with the layered mixture.
  7. Freeze overnight.
  8. To serve, slice the loaf with a sharp knife.
