Tips & Substitutions
For a creamier texture, consider using half-and-half instead of heavy cream. You can also substitute the Swiss cheese with Gruyère for a nutty flavor. If you want to add some zing, a sprinkle of nutmeg enhances the dish beautifully. Be sure to slice the potatoes evenly for consistent cooking, and using a mandoline can help achieve this.
Serving Suggestions
Serve New Potatoes Gratiner as a side dish alongside roasted meats or grilled vegetables. It pairs beautifully with Aunt Mag'S Pound Cake(No Milk Pound Cake) for dessert. A simple green salad with a tangy vinaigrette can complement the richness of the gratin, creating a balanced meal.
Storage & Reheating
Leftover New Potatoes Gratiner can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To reheat, place in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 20 minutes, or until heated through. Cover with foil to prevent the top from over-browning while warming.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I make this dish ahead of time?
Yes, you can prepare the gratin a day in advance. Assemble everything in the baking dish, cover it tightly with plastic wrap, and refrigerate. When ready to bake, remove the wrap and add a few extra minutes to the cooking time for a cold start.
What can I use instead of margarine?
If you prefer, you can substitute margarine with unsalted butter or a plant-based butter alternative. Both will provide a rich flavor. For a healthier option, olive oil can also be used, but it will slightly change the flavor profile.
Can I add other vegetables to the gratin?
Absolutely! Feel free to include other vegetables like spinach, zucchini, or bell peppers. Just make sure to adjust the cooking time slightly if you add vegetables that require longer cooking, ensuring everything is tender and cooked through.
