Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lb. ground beef
  • 1 c. chopped onion
  • 1/2 c. chopped green pepper
  • 1 1/2 c. sliced celery
  • 2 c. uncooked fillets
  • 1 can red kidney beans
  • 3 1/2 c. canned tomatoes
  • 1 (4 oz.) can mushrooms
  • 1 tsp. seasoned salt
  • 1 tsp. chili powder
  • 1/8 tsp. pepper
  • 1/2 tsp. salt

Instructions

  1. Brown ground beef in 2 tablespoons of fat.
  2. Add chopped onion, green pepper, and sliced celery.
  3. Cook slowly until the vegetables are still crunchy, but not overcooked.
  4. Add uncooked fillets, canned tomatoes, red kidney beans, mushrooms, seasoned salt, chili powder, pepper, and salt.
  5. Stir until well blended.
  6. Cover the skillet and bring to a boil.
  7. Turn heat to low and simmer for 20 to 25 minutes.
  8. Serve hot. The mixture can also be put into a casserole after boiling and baked at 350°F until fillets are done, or frozen to bake later.
