Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup unbleached flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 1/4 cups oats
  • 1/4 cup wheat germ
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup applesauce
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 cup margarine, melted
  • 3/4 cup peanut butter

Instructions

  1. Combine dry ingredients: flour, baking soda, oats, and wheat germ in a bowl.
  2. Add all liquids: brown sugar, applesauce, eggs, vanilla, and melted margarine; mix well.
  3. Stir in chocolate chips.
  4. Spread the mixture evenly in a greased 13 x 9-inch pan.
  5. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 25 minutes.
  6. Cool completely before slicing into bars.
