  • 2 1/4 cups flour
  • 3/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 eggs
  • 3/4 cup butter or lard
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 cup sour milk or buttermilk
  • 1/2 teaspoon allspice

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Mix all ingredients together until well combined.
  3. Pour batter into a greased baking pan.
  4. Bake for approximately 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
